Thank you, Mrs Dallimore
As you will be aware, Mrs Dallimore will be leaving Cheam Common at the end of this half term. Mrs Dallimore has been asked by LEO Academy Trust to take on a new role for the rest of the academic year.
Mrs Dallimore’s last day will be on Friday. There has been an assembly with the whole school to thank her for all her hard work during her time at Cheam Common. Mrs Dallimore’s expertise, passion and enthusiasm will be missed by all staff and pupils across the school.
Cheam Common Junior Academy will continue to be led by Miss Gunner, Mrs Hart and Miss Kelly. Mrs Lester will remain as the Executive Principal.
As always if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office or speak to the leadership team at the start or the end of the school day.

Turkey & Syria Earthquake Appeal
Thank you to all of our families who made donations to our appeal for help following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria this week. We were overwhelmed with the kindness and empathy that our families showed. These donations are being flown over to Turkey overnight.

Secondhand books and board games
Do you have any secondhand books or board games that you no longer need? At Cheam Common, we would appreciate donations of any of these items. Books are always appreciated and board games are extremely useful, especially during wet play! Simply drop these into the office or ask your child to hand them to their class teacher. Thank you for your support in advance!
Weekly School and Sporting News Stories
Y5/6 Korfball
On Monday evening, Miss Brooks took a Year 5 and Year 6 team to take part in the Nomads Korfball tournament. All children learned the rules and how to play a new sport. Thank you to all of the parents who came along to support.
Y5/6 Boys' Borough Cup Match
On Tuesday evening, our Y5/6 Boys' Football Team travelled to Carshalton Boys for their Borough Cup match against Muschamp. It was an incredibly tight game, with Cian even managed to save a penalty! Unfortunately, Muschamp came out 3-2 winners in the end. We are still proud of the resilience and respect that our boys showed throughout the match.
Y5/6 Girls' League Match
Our Y5/6 Girls' Football Team had a tough league match on Wednesday afternoon against another LEO school, Manor Park. It was a tight game, with Catherine pulling off some heroics in goal. Eventually, Jasmine set up Alma beautifully for the only goal of the game. The final score was 1-0 to Cheam Common. Well done, girls!
Metropolitan Police Visit
On Monday afternoon, we were treated to a visit by the Metropolitan Police! They brought along their police cars, vans and a motorbike. Children were allowed to sit in the vehicles, sound the sirens and completed a fingerprint identifying activity.
Cheerleading Workshop
On Monday afternoon, eight of our children represented Cheam Common at the first ever Sutton Sports Gymnastics and Cheerleading Festival. The organisers were so impressed that they have asked our Cheerleading Squad to perform later in the year. Well done, girls!
Y5 Boys' Surrey Cup Semi Final
On Monday, our Y5 Boys' Football Team travelled to Brookfield for their Surrey Cup Semi Final. It was an incredibly tough game and the boys' performance improved greatly in the second half. Unfortunately, the game ended in defeat. We are sure that there are many more opportunities for this fantastic groupn of boys.
Rotary Club 'Top of the Form' Quiz
On Tuesday afternoon, four of our Year 6 children were chosen to represent Cheam Common Junior Academy in the 'Top of the Form' quiz competition, hosted by the Rotary Club. It was a tight match against Culvers House Primary, but CCJ eventually came out on top! Well done, Alina, Noah, Evana and Henry. We are looking forward to the next round.
Chelsea FC Tournament
On Thursday, both our Boys' and Girls' Y5/6 Football Teams were invited to take part in the Chelsea FC Foundation's Premier League Stars tournament. They played against schools from across south-west London, with the winners being chosen to represent Chelsea in the next round. Both teams finished third in the tournament - an incredible achievement. A special mention to Phoebe, our goalkeeper, who kept 6 clean sheets in a row!
The South-West London Gang Show
Two of our students, Silvia and Naomi (6T) are among many of the students who are taking part in the South West London Gang Show, a variety show performed by Scouts and Guides.

SEND & Inclusion Updates!
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
