It has been a really busy two weeks of festivities at school. First up was our Orchestra & Choir Christmas Concert on Wednesday 4 December. Well done to all of the children who took part – we were all very impressed by your singing and instrumental skills. On Wednesday 11 December we were joined in school by actors from Troubadour Productions for a special Christmas pantomime that was enjoyed by all of the children from Year 3-6.
At the start of this week, every child in the school was involved with our two Christmas Productions where the singing, narrating and acting was exceptionally uplifting, as both Y3&4 and Y5&6 gave three amazing performances each. Thank you to all of the staff for their hard work in preparing the children for the productions – photographs can be seen elsewhere in this newsletter and on our news feed via Twitter and the school website. Next up was our Christmas Lunch yesterday. An amazing 428 Christmas Dinners were served to our very excited children – thank you to everyone who joined us for a hot dinner and to our LEO catering team in the kitchen for their exceptional hard work on the day and for providing every child with a Christmas cracker.
The children then enjoyed their Class Christmas Parties and today enjoyed singing carols and Christmas songs in the hall !
Finally, all the staff wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas! Thank you so much for all the support you have given each of us, and the school, throughout 2019. We hope that all of the children have a fantastic holiday and return in 2020 ready to learn even more, make great progress and experience many new opportunities and challenges both in and out of the classroom. Have a great holiday!
On Monday 9th December, the School Council visited the Houses of Parliament. It was a very interesting and informative trip and the children were great ambassadors for our school!
We travelled to central London by train and then walked along South Bank to Lambeth Bridge, which gave us our first view of the Houses of Parliament. We started our tour by going through security. We had a few minutes to look around the Education Centre and read some of the interesting facts written on every wall. Our guides left us to watch a 3D film about the History of Parliament and the building itself. Unfortunately we were unable to meet our local MP, Paul Scully, as he was bust campaigning for the election!
The children were then split into two smaller groups and taken on a tour of the building. We visited both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. This was amazing! In addition we were told about how voting takes place, how mail is delivered, shown the post office that only serves the MPs and told about some of the most significant prime ministers that there has been (the four most influential are now statues in one of the halls!). We ended the tour in the Great Hall, which is the oldest part of the building, and was where the knight originally met to discuss taxes and war!
The children had a great trip and learnt so much about our history. They were all very sensible and well behaved and, as always, a credit to the school. Well done all!
Since the start of the Autumn Term, we have been once again rewarding children with ‘golden tickets’ when they display excellent behaviour, manners or show they are demonstrating the Rights Respecting Values. These tickets go into a raffle draw and a winner is selected each week.
The 15 lucky children whose names were drawn went to Horton Park Golf Club yesterday to play crazy golf as their reward. We hope you had fun!
Well done PINE House! House Point Cup Winners for this half term!
Well done as well to all children who have already been awarded their Gold, Silver or Bronze Team Point Certificate for gaining 25, 50 or 100 team points this half term.
All children in PINE Team got to wear their own clothes yesterday! Well done!
Congratulations to the 136 children across the school who received their Bronze 100% Attendance Badge for this term.
These children have been in school everyday since September. Well done!
Today, we held our termly Merit Assembly. This is an occasion all of our children look forward to as we award special Merit Certificates and CCJ Merit Badges to pupils who have made significant achievements over a whole term.
