On Tuesday 18th June, we will be holding our class photos. Please ensure that your children are in full school uniform on this day, including school shoes and their jumper or cardigan.
If your child has PE on that day, please could children bring this kit in with them.
Year 4 children should only bring their PE kit to school, they will be able to do Forest School wearing that kit.
We will also be taking photos of Orchestra Club and Maths Club.
Monday 24th - Friday 28th June
We would love to invite all children to take part in our latest competition: Design your own map for London Maths Week.
Please see all details below.
Throughout the rest of the term, we will be inviting many children to have a slot on our radio station.
Every week, four Green Ticket winners are chosen to take part in Friday's session.
🎵 Amazon Music 🎵
Pupils across the school started by requesting the songs they would like to be part of the radio station. If any parents would like to donate to our Amazon fund to purchase music for the radio then please gift any amount you can on an Amazon E-Gift Card to ccjradio@leoacademytrust.co.uk. We would be very grateful.
Combine the excitement of history with the fun of imagination to create Ancient Adventures! Our pupils can pick any person, place or event from history to inspire their mini saga, a story told in up to 100 words. From discovering a pharaoh's tomb or a soldier in the trenches to being Queen Victoria or an explorer sailing the seven seas, it's a great way to tie creative writing with our current history topic. Our pupils will have fun as they put their writing skills into practice creating original stories.
The opportunity to see their work in print will inspire our pupils to get writing, and everyone chosen for publication will receive a certificate of merit. There are also fantastic prizes to be won - our 10 favourite stories will each win their writers a creative writing goody bag and the school with the best set of entries will win an incredible £500!
Let's take our pupils on an Ancient Adventure today! If this sounds like something you are interested in, collect a booklet from Miss Holloway in 5VH.

We have made the decision to move the Year 3 Open Afternoon from Monday 17th June to Wednesday 19th June. This is due to the clash with our Year 3 children swimming. Information about timings will be emailed nearer the time.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
As the weather is warming up, please ensure that children have sunhats and a water bottle in school. Please ensure that children have applied sun cream in the morning.
Uniform reminder
Please ensure that children are wearing school shoes, or plain black trainers.
Additionally, a reminder that our PE kit consists of the following items: White T-shirt, red shorts or black/navy tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Our black training top and bottoms are also optional items in our PE kit.
Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
⚽ Premier League Primary Stars: On Wednesday, our Year 6 Girls' Football Team travelled to Brentford Community Stadium to represent Fulham FC in the Premier League Primary Stars Finals. They were up against nineteen other teams from across the country, each representing a different Premier League Team. Although we didn't make the semi-finals, our team were awarded the Fair Play Award, chosen by referees throughout the entire day. They looked around the stadium and had photos with the Premier League trophy. It was certainly a day that the girls will never forget.
⚽ Year 4 LEO Tournament: On Wednesday, our Year 4 Girls' Football Team took part in the finals of the LEO 5-a-side Tournament, which has been taking place across the summer term. 🎶 KS2 Big Sing: On Wednesday morning, members of our choir travelled to St Andrews Church to take part in the Key Stage 2 Big Sing Concert, organised by the Sutton Music Trust. They performed in front of hundreds of people and their confidence was so impressive.
🏐 Dodgeball South East Regional Finals: We travelled to the University of East London on Thursday to take part in the Dodgeball South East Regional Finals. We competed with schools from all over the region and managed to secure fourth space, which means we have now qualified for the National Finals in July!
🌳 Year 5 Hogsmill Trips: On Tuesday and Friday this week, our Year 5 classes travelled down to the Hogsmill River, to learn all about the physical features of the river and its ecosystem.
🏏 LEO Girls' Dynamo Cricket: On Friday afternoon, our Year 6 Girls' Cricket Team competed in the LEO Cricket Tournament at Sutton Cricket Club. They beat Manor Park in the final to win the entire competition! Well done, girls!

SEND & Inclusion Updates
Young Carers at Cheam Common
At Cheam Common Junior Academy, we hold a weekly small group session to support children across the school who fulfil the role of ‘Young Carer’ because they have a sibling or parent with serious health issues, special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
We want to celebrate the important role our Young Carers play, but also recognise that they may face challenges and pressures not shared by the general school population.
The group meets during assembly time and is led by Mrs Hart.
If you would like your child to take part please complete this form.
If you have any questions about the group, please feel free to contact us at ccjsend@leoacademytrust.co.uk
Please click here to access the Local Authority's Ambitious for SEND parent newsletter to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area. To receive these newsletters (three produced each year) please subscribe to the local area Ambitious for SEND newsletter. It is a great way to stay in touch with what is happening in the local area.
