Cheam Common Junior Academy: Kingsmead Avenue, Worcester Park, KT4 8UT
Email: ccjoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk http://www.cheamcommon.org.uk/
On Wednesday 18th September, your child will be having their individual school photos taken. Please ensure that children are wearing their full school uniform, including a school jumper or cardigan.
The children will also have their photos taken with their siblings in the school later in the day.
Does your child have a sibling at Cheam Common Infants?
Come along to the Cheam Common Junior Academy hall on Wednesday 18th September from 8-8:45am, to have your CCI/CCJ sibling photo taken. This is always a popular occasion so please turn up earlier than usual.
The opportunity to see their work in print will inspire our pupils to get writing, and everyone chosen for publication will receive a certificate of merit. There are also fantastic prizes to be won, including an incredible £1,000 for the school!
At the end of the last academic year, we opened up the competition of Ancient Adventures across the school. We are pleased to announce that 64 entries have been chosen and will be published in the book: Ancient Adventures - Story Time. Successful entrants will be informed on prizes etc later when more information is received.
Let's take our pupils into the Wonderverse today! If this sounds like something you are interested in, speak to your learning council representative, your class teacher or Miss Holloway.

Next week, all of our classes will start their PE lessons. Please see a reminder below of which days each class has PE. Children should wear their PE kit to school; there is no need to get changed at school.
PE kit reminder:
White T-shirt
Red shorts or black/grey tracksuit bottoms
School jumpers/cardigans/fleeces to be worn if needed (not own jumpers)
CCJ Black tracksuit (optional)
Please remember that any breaktime snacks for children should be healthy. Fruit and vegetables are encouraged, along with cereal or fruit bars. Crisps and chocolate are not permitted and children will be asked to return these to their lunchboxes.
It would be appreciated if all children's belongings were labelled clearly with their name, especially jumpers, coats and water bottles.
As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage creativity and hands-on learning in our art classes, we are in need of some additional supplies. To help protect the children's clothing during art activities, we would like to kindly ask for donations of old shirts or t-shirts that can be used as art aprons. Ideally, long-sleeved shirts would be most suitable, but any size or style is greatly appreciated!
If you have any old shirts or t-shirts at home that you no longer need, we would be grateful if you could send them into school with your child to give to Miss Maclean (4M).
Thank you in advance for your generosity and continued support.
Miss Maclean
On Thursday morning, our children attended an assembly to hear all about our JamCoding Clubs that are hosted at Cheam Common Junior Academy. For more information and to sign your children up, see the flyer.
Please note: Monday's club is full but there are plenty of spaces in the Tuesday club. You will need to scroll down on the flyer to book this club.
Please find more information about our Monday morning TaeKwonDo club here.
We currently have a vacancy in our team for a Midday Supervisor.

Children across the school wrote a wishlist of the different books that they would like to see in their library and their classrooms.
We have collated this wishes and have put together an Amazon Wish List, which can be found here. If parents and families wish, there are over a hundred books that children are desperate to read on the list and these can be ordered as a present to our school. Alternatively, if you notice a book on the list that your children no longer read, we are always grateful for any donations!
It has also been suggested by our children that, on a birthday, rather than bringing sweets in for their classmates, children choose a book on the list that they would like to donate to their class. This also falls in line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. On the order, there is an option to leave a message - you can specify which class the book is for. As ever, we recognise that money can be tight so please note that this is entirely optional. Any support is always appreciated.
Palace Women have a very important league fixture at Selhurst Park in just two weeks time, and we would love nothing more than for our local schools to have the opportunity to be there and become part of Crystal Palace history.
Kicking off at 7:30pm on Friday 27th September, we will be taking on Chelsea in our first ever home game in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
This is your opportunity to see our new squad in action, as well as Lionesses like Lauren James, Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze under the lights at Selhurst Park!
We would like to offer you some exclusive discount codes so yourself, the pupils and their guardians/parents can all be there.
We are giving all local schools 25% off with the promo code: CPFCWSCHOOLS at checkout!
Simply just click on this link and add the tickets you want to your basket followed by the promo code.
Check out what our children have been up to this week at Cheam Common Junior Academy!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
If you do bring in treats, we will NOT hand them out. We expect you and your child to hand them out so you can check if parents are happy for their child to receive the treat.
Sami brought in some Spanish books to celebrate his birthday. He donated these to his teacher, Miss Thatcher, to help run Spanish Club. Thank you!
We have loved receiving some fantastic homework so early in the term!
Remember: Each year group's homework matrix can be found in the section below. Completing these tasks is optional but can really help to enrich the children's learning and understanding of these topics.
