News about next year

STAFFING CHANGES:

We are very pleased that our teaching staff is extremely stable for next year, however, as always at this time of year, some members of our teaching staff will be leaving us at the end of this term.

We are very sad to say farewell to Mrs Lagartixa as she takes time away from teaching to complete her masters degree. During Mrs Lagartixa's time at CCI she has led Year 2, maths, organising clubs and she has worked with Mrs Townsend to support our disadvantaged children. We wish her luck with her masters degree.

We are also saying farewell to Miss O’Connor who is going to take some time away from teaching and spend time with her family. Miss O’Connor joined CCI when she was a newly qualified teacher and has led on many roles. She has been at the school for ten years and I know she will be missed. We wish her all the best.

We will be saying goodbye to Mrs Lowry who has worked in the wrap around team for four years. We wish her all the best.

Mr Hendra will be moving to Brookfield Primary Academy in September. We would like to thank him for being a great role model and for all his hard work this year.

Finally we are delighted to share that Mrs Suk is expecting her second child in Autumn Term and she will be leaving us in September to start her maternity leave.

NEW TEACHING STAFF FOR SEPTEMBER 2021

In September we will be adding to the staff we currently have at Cheam Common Infants’ Academy. We will be joined by two new class teachers: Miss Alder and Miss Shaw. We wish them all a very happy time with us at Cheam Common and are certain they will enjoy developing their careers, with both ourselves and the LEO Academy Trust.

We are also pleased to welcome Miss Lane who will be moving from Cheam Common Juniors’ and joining our Year 2 team next term. We are also welcoming Mr Hull as our sports coach next year, he is moving from Brookfield.

Finally Ms Miles-Prouten will be increasing her days from three to five days. Also Mrs Hughes will continue her role as Vice Principal however she will not be in class next year. She will be supporting our newly qualified teachers, monitoring the curriculum, leading on English and leading Early Years as well as Year 1.

Sports Day

On Thursday 8th July Year 1 and Reception will be holding their Sports’ day sessions at the Scouts hut in Balmoral Road. On Friday 9th July Year 2 will be holding their Sport's Day session. The children will be taking part in a range of non-competitive activities as well as some competitive events in teams and some individual running races. The Nursery and the Rainbow bubble will be having their own Sports days in schools with Mr Hendra.

At Cheam Common Infants’ we talk to the children about the fun of taking part, being a ‘good sport’ and learning to win and lose. This compliments the work we do in Real PE in developing healthy relationships with physical activity for life and ensuring positive early core memories of sport. Year 1 and Year 2 will also be finding out about the Olympics and learning about the British athletes Jonny and Alistair Brownlee. We will all be taking part in the Brownlee Foundation’s challenge during our sports days. There will be medals for everyone as well as stickers for those individual children or teams winning in the competitive events.

Please can parents ensure that all children have a PE kit, including suitable footwear in school on Sports day. As usual, please can long hair be tied back, and any earrings removed. Can all children please come to school with sun cream applied, wearing a sun hat and with their water bottle.

In line with Covid advice, we are sad that parents will not be able to attend this event. However, we will be taking plenty of photos so please have a look at Twitter and Seesaw to see all of the fun.

This will be our only opportunity to use the Scouts hut so if there is inclement weather we will sadly have to call Sports Day off.
