Welcome to our weekly newsletter!
Updates
As you are probably aware, the temperature is set to increase over the weekend. Please can we remind you to provide your child with a water bottle and a sun hat and to apply sunscreen before coming to school. We will also be adapting the school timetable to take into account the hot weather. Children can wear their PE kits on Monday or Tuesday if they would prefer.
Following guidance we have received this week, we have made the following changes:
Year 2 assembly will now be on Thursday at 2.30 not Monday as the temperatures should be lower
Year 2 Magician will be on Tuesday morning instead of the afternoon.
End of Term reminders
- Please can each child bring in a strong carrier bag on Thursday so they can take their books home.
- Children can wear their own clothes on Wednesday for their class parties.
- On Friday school finishes at 2pm.
Governor update
Our Chair of Governors Noel McEvilly is stepping down from his role at the end of term. Over the last 18 years, Noel has championed the school and he has played an active role in moving the school forwards through difficult times. We will greatly miss his input but wish him every success for the future.
In September Pam Cooper will become our new Chair of Governors. Pam is an experienced governor who has worked with Cheam Common Infants' and Juniors for the last 3 years. She was also a governor at Cheam Park Farm for many years. We know she will continue to support and champion both schools.

Nursery Sports Day
Year 1 Sports Day
Year 1 trip to Nonsuch Park
Yesterday Year One enjoyed walking in the footsteps of King Henry VIII at Nonsuch Park. In the past Henry VIII used to enjoy chasing wild boars and jousting but in the present we are playing lots of different games. Some of the games which have been 'crazes of the week'. The children recapped their knowledge of deciduous trees. The children were also able to identify the lavender and smell the relaxing scent. They saw bees just like the bee they have been learning about in the story 'The Bee that Spoke'.
Year 2
This week Year 2 created a double page spread about the Great Fire of London. They recalled important facts about how the fire spread, how they put the fire out and changes to London.
