We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our children who dressed in number- or maths-themed outfits today. We were so impressed with the creativity of our children and families! Check out some of our highlights below!
If you would like to donate money to the NSPCC online, you can do so here.
Monday 3rd March
As part of our Science learning about the classification of animals, Year 1 children have an exciting opportunity to be visited by Tom’s Talking Reptiles.
This will be a hands on experience for children, and we hope to bring the photos that we have been showing them to life, enabling them to see for themselves some of these amazing creatures, many of which are now endangered.
We are very keen for this ‘experience’ to take place and therefore request the voluntary contribution of £4.50 per Y1 pupil to be paid via Arbor before Monday 24th February.
Friday 14th February
We are delighted to be hosting the next SEND Coffee Morning on Friday 14th February (8:45-9:45am) at Cheam Common Junior Academy.
All parents of SEND children are welcome to attend this informal event.
If you would like to attend, please complete this short Google Form so we can provide refreshments.
This is a friendly reminder that Cheam Common Infants' is a nut-free school. This policy is in place to protect children with severe nut allergies, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
Please do not send any food items containing nuts to school with your child. This includes, but is not limited to:
All types of nuts: peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts
Monkey nuts
Chocolate spread (e.g., Nutella, which often contains hazelnuts)
Chocolate filled crepes (e.g., Sainsburys own as these contain hazelnut filling)
Peanut butter
Baked goods that contain nuts or nut flour
Snacks and cereals that may contain nuts or have "may contain" warnings
Even trace amounts of nuts can trigger a severe allergic reaction in some children. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for all students.
Reception have been learning about dinosaurs. We have been pretending to be scientists and palaeontologists and have done lots of activities with pretend dinosaur bones!
Nursery have been reading the 3 little pigs this week. They have built houses using different materials. They have also practised writing their names.
Year One has a great week of learning. We are really proud of the progress they are making in their writing and they are enjoying their new book ‘The Last Wolf’. The children wrote excellent setting descriptions and used some interesting adjectives like howling wind and prickly, sharp bushes. In Maths the children enjoyed making number bonds to 10 and were confident in writing the sum 7+3=10. In Art the children thoroughly enjoyed printing using ink and a roller. In science they continued learning about their sense of touch. They explored a variety of materials and used the correct vocabulary when describing. It has been a busy week but lots of wonderful learning has happened!
What a week of discovery for Year 2! In Design and Technology, our car designs sped into action, and we were thrilled with the results! The children then put on their engineering hats, evaluating their creations and suggesting clever improvements.
Our computing lesson launched us into the world of coding, where we learned to program software using Lego Spike to build an interactive adventure centered around a boat launch.
A huge round of applause to Cedric Wong, whose delightful penguin poem earned him the top spot in our poetry competition! Year 2 will perform his winning poem in assembly next week. We also focused on the art of recount writing, learning how to structure and craft engaging narratives as we prepare to record our experiences at Brooklands next week. Fantastic work, Year 2!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.
