We would like to wish all of our families a safe and happy half term.
Remember: Monday 4th November is an INSET Day. Children's first day back at school will be Tuesday 4th November.
On Monday 11th November, we will be celebrating and taking part in Odd Socks Day! We are looking forward to seeing all of your colourful socks next week as 'Odd Socks Day' marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week.
Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun, however the main focus is to raise awareness of Anti Bullying Week and it is an opportunity to encourage people and children to express themselves whilst expressing their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school on Monday 11th November!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated items during our Harvest Festival Week. Our donations were dropped off by members of the CCJ School Council.
Tuesday 5th November
Eagles and Falcons: 9:40-10:30am
Kestrels and Owls: 10:45-11:35am
If you are free to volunteer, please email the school office.
Monday 18th November
Next half term for our history learning, the children will be learning all about the world of toys and the role that they play in entertaining us, educating us, and stimulating our imagination. As historians, they will be finding out about the ways in which toys have changed over time. To enhance their learning, we would like the children to participate in an interactive Victorian drama workshop.
After learning some well-known Victorian parlour games, the children will have the opportunity to handle and examine a large selection of wooden, tin and cloth replica toys, to discover how they work and how they are made. Thus bringing their learning to life!
The cost of this workshop is £4.50 per child. We would be grateful if you could make this payment via your Arbor account by 4th November, under the trip section.
LEO Academy Trust is incredibly proud to work in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching as an Associate College to deliver Initial Teacher Training, (ITT) Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) from September 2025. Associate Colleges are successful school trusts, selected because of their wealth of in-house expertise in professional development and their deep relationships in their local areas. This collaboration allows us to be at the forefront of educational excellence, providing local teachers with unparalleled opportunities for professional growth, learning and development. Together, we are shaping the future of teaching and learning, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education.
Applications for our primary ITT courses are now open for September 2025! Our initial teacher training is a fully immersive school-centred programme - aspiring teachers will be in the classroom from the very start. But full immersion does not mean that you will be thrown in the deep end: our trainees are mentored and have central training once a week.

This is a friendly reminder that Cheam Common Infants' is a nut-free school. This policy is in place to protect children with severe nut allergies, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
Please do not send any food items containing nuts to school with your child. This includes, but is not limited to:
All types of nuts: peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts
Monkey nuts
Chocolate spread (e.g., Nutella, which often contains hazelnuts)
Chocolate filled crepes (e.g., Sainsburys own as these contain hazelnut filling)
Peanut butter
Baked goods that contain nuts or nut flour
Snacks and cereals that may contain nuts or have "may contain" warnings
Even trace amounts of nuts can trigger a severe allergic reaction in some children. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for all students.
Nursery have made binoculars and looked for signs of Autumn. We found some yellow leaves outside! We also created pictures by rolling conkers in paint and made play dough hedgehogs! We had so much fun!
Reception have continued learning about Autumn and carefully finger painted dots to create Autumn leaves on trees. We have explored natural objects such as pumpkins, conkers and pine cones and created observational drawings, focusing on using the correct shapes and colours for the objects.
Yay, it’s the last week of term! Year One are all very tired and ready for the half term break. They have had a lovely week reviewing all their learning across the curriculum and recorded this on Seesaw. The children have enjoyed writing a letter to the Bear and have learnt how to structure a letter. In Maths the children have been finding one more and one less than a number. They have been introduced to the bar model and successfully applied their knowledge of number bonds to 5 using the bar model. The children finished the week very excited in MUFTI clothes and loved using Now Press Play for fairy tale Friday. Have a wonderful half term!
In English this week, Year 2 have written their instructions for ‘How to care for a guinea pig’ and we are very proud of how well they have done as a year group! In Maths, Year 2 have focussed on finding the difference in a range of contexts. We especially enjoyed looking at pictograms and bar graphs. In Computing, they have been looking at their digital footprints by following a trail of information left by Ellie the elephant and Mervin the mouse. They have also been reviewing their learning from Autumn 1 across all areas of the curriculum and showed us just how much they have learnt. Well done, Year 2!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.
