NSPCC Number Day
We will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day on Thursday 6th February.
We would like to invite all children to wear number- and maths-themed costumes to school. You might even decide to come as a Numbot!
If you would like to donate money to the NSPCC, you can do so here.
Chinese New Year
We would like to invite all of our children who are celebrating Lunar New Year on Wednesday 29th January to wear their traditional clothing to school on this day if they wish. This year is the Year of the Wood Snake.
Please note that this is not a MUFTI day.
Year 2 Brooklands Trip
Our Year 2 classes are excited to attend trips to Brooklands in February. Please complete this Google Form to ensure your child has permission to attend.
The cost of the visit is £24.00 per child which includes entrance to the museum, the peg racer workshop and transport costs. Please note that refunds cannot be made if your child is absent on the day.
🥜 Allergy reminder 🥜
This is a friendly reminder that Cheam Common Infants' is a nut-free school. This policy is in place to protect children with severe nut allergies, which can cause life-threatening reactions.
Please do not send any food items containing nuts to school with your child. This includes, but is not limited to:
All types of nuts: peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts
Monkey nuts
Chocolate spread (e.g., Nutella, which often contains hazelnuts)
Chocolate filled crepes (e.g., Sainsburys own as these contain hazelnut filling)
Peanut butter
Baked goods that contain nuts or nut flour
Snacks and cereals that may contain nuts or have "may contain" warnings
Even trace amounts of nuts can trigger a severe allergic reaction in some children. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for all students.

Weekly School and Sporting News Stories
Nursery and Reception
In Reception, we have been learning about pirates, exploring floating and sinking and making predictions and using Tales Toolkit in small world. We have also been playing teachers and practising subitising and composition of number!
In Nursery, we have been using coding, digital skills and Tales Toolkit. Our main project this week has been designing and then making castles!
Year 1
Year One has a great week of learning. We are really proud of the progress they are making in their writing and they are enjoying their new book ‘The Lonely Beast’. The children wrote very good character descriptions of the Lonely Beast trying hard to remember all the key features. In Maths the children have been using number stories to subtract by crossing out and using a number line, they are becoming increasingly confident in both addition and subtraction. In geography the children learnt about extreme weather and enjoyed the Nearpod. In Art the children thoroughly enjoyed printing by making their own plasticine in print and printing using ink pads. They also continued to print using a variety of objects and fruit exploring pressure. It has been a busy week but lots of wonderful learning has happened.
Year 2
This week, Year 2 has been buzzing with creativity and innovation!
We delved into the life of George Stephenson, exploring his groundbreaking inventions and their transformative impact on travel. The children researched diligently using Thinglink and crafted captivating accounts, showcasing their understanding of the significance of this historical figure.
Transforming into "Inventors' Assistants" to the beloved Wallace and Gromit, students embraced their inner innovators. They generated ingenious inventions, carefully considered material selection based on specific properties, and confidently articulated their design choices.
Stepping into the shoes of characters from our core text, "Black Rock," students penned persuasive letters brimming with passion. Their carefully constructed arguments aimed to save "Black Rock" from destruction, demonstrating strong writing skills and a deep understanding of the story.
Well done, Year 2! What an inspiring week of learning and discovery!
Birthday celebrations
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.

Happy birthday! Thank you for your book donation.
Gabrielle (Reception)

Freddie (Year 1)
