This has been an incredibly emotional week, a true testament to the journey we share with our students. Watching the Year 6 performance was particularly poignant, as it brought back vivid memories of teaching many of those very children when they were in Year 1. To see their growth and confidence now is truly remarkable.
Equally moving was the Year 2 performance, a powerful reminder of how much progress they've made in their relatively short time at CCI. And then, on Friday, to witness over 400 children filling the hall, celebrating their collective achievements and seeing how far they've come this year—it fills my heart with an overwhelming sense of pride.
We are sad to see some of our staff moving on, but I know they will take with them the knowledge that they have been part of my incredible team this year and I am certain that they will continue to shine brightly as they progress in their future teaching careers.
It has been a privilege to be the Principal of Cheam Common Infants this year. Thank you to everyone who has emailed, spoken to me, or written their thanks – it means a lot.
Emails will be sent before the start of term to outline temporary entrance instructions due to the playground renovations but now is the time for staff and children to relax and enjoy some family time, free from the structure of school life. It is time to make some memories, and I can't wait to hear all about them.
Have a wonderful summer everyone and I will see you in September.
Mrs Hughes
One of our wonderful parent volunteers at the Summer Fair explored Match Funding through their employer, and we’re delighted to announce the match funding has come through!
This fantastic achievement simply wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing parental support, from donating raffle prizes and buying tickets, to volunteering at events like the school disco and Summer Fair. Every contribution made a real difference and we are so grateful.
We’re also thrilled to let you know that, thanks to your generosity, we will be completing the Infants Playground Project over the summer. It’s going to be a truly wonderful space for our youngest children to play, learn and grow.
We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Cheam Common half-zip black PE top at the uniform shop.
These stylish tops provide a comfortable and smart alternative to sweatshirts and cardigans on PE days, mirroring the popular junior design.
Infants in Reception to Year 2 can now purchase tops with a standard Cheam Common logo. Older children's tops with the CCJ logo will remain available until current stock is sold.
This top is optional (not a uniform requirement) but many parents have praised the junior version, so we are pleased to offer this popular choice!
These can be purchased at SchoolWearInc - also on Worcester Park High Street,
Nursery explored different themes this week! We learnt about magnets and things that were magnetic. We also designed and made sandcastles and had a sandcastle building competition!
Reception have had so much fun creating different learning themes this week! We pretended we were superheroes and created our own superhero costumes! What would your superpower be?
Year One had a brilliant last week of term. Wow, it has been an emotional week saying goodbye to your precious children. We are all incredibly proud of them and the progress they have made throughout the year.
The children performed extremely well as they sang their little hearts out. They loved their end of year summer party and partially enjoyed splashing in the paddling pool, having face glitter and playing a variety of games. It was a special way to end the year and full of lots of fun.
We will miss them dearly and can't wait to see them in Year 2. Have a wonderful summer!
What a week for our Year 2s! They've been absolutely buzzing with excitement, wrapping up the term with a flurry of fun and creativity. From building props for their celebration assembly to making cards and sharing their artistic talents, it’s been a truly memorable week. They even kicked things off by setting up their own shops, honing their financial literacy skills while having a blast.
Thursday was a highlight, starting with the children decorating 'positive affirmation placemats'. It was heartwarming to see their peers identify each child’s wonderful characteristics, creating beautiful reminders of the close friendships forged at CCI. Later, our Year 2 stars beamed with pride as they performed their celebration assembly for their families before heading out for some inflatable fun!
It was such a joy to share this special afternoon, celebrating all the children's achievements with so many families present. We are incredibly proud of how much they've blossomed during their time with us and wish them all the very best for happy and successful futures at CCJ. We'll miss them dearly!
Wishing all our families a truly wonderful summer holiday!
Polite reminder...
As you know, we are a healthy school and therefore ask if your child would like to celebrate their birthday, they donate a book to a library instead of bringing treats. This also ensures there are no concerns over allergies.
Happy birthday! Thank you so much for your book donation.

Lottie performed a tap and ballet dance in the Dancing Through Life show at Leatherhead Theatre on Sunday 6th July. She was very brave to take part in her first big show and pushed herself out of her comfort zone and loved dancing on stage.
Heidrun joined the EJCOA final last weekend, where she met some chess Grand Masters and took some lessons from them. Also she had a chance to play a chess game with WGM (3 times British Woman chess champion 2022-2024)! She was so satisfied for the three days and met some new friends.
Reporting absences
There is no longer an option to report a child’s absence via telephone. We ask that you use the google forms below to report absence. They are also available to complete on our website using the parent tab.
We do not authorise holidays during term time. If your child is going to be off school due to an exceptional circumstance, then please complete this form:
Request for Exceptional Absence form in advance for future appointments and exception absence.
Cheam Common Infants' Absence Form for sickness and same day medical appointments.
Communication
To help us assist you more efficiently when you email the school office, we kindly request that you include your child's class along with their name in your correspondence.
While we know all our students very well, having the class information readily available helps us to quickly identify your child and address your queries without any delay or guesswork.
For example, please consider writing: "Regarding [Child's Full Name], [Class, e.g., Year 3 Elm]" in the subject line or at the beginning of your email.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will help us continue to provide the best possible support to you and your children.
Thank you for your understanding.
Moving address
If you have moved address, it is imperative that you inform the school office as soon as you have moved. It is a requirement that the school has up to date details particularly in case of an emergency.
Please email the school office ccioffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk if your details need updating. Alternatively you can update them using the Arbor App.
We are excited to announce that you can now log same-day absences for your children directly through the Parent Portal or Arbor App. Simply navigate to the Attendance section, click "Log Absence," and fill in the details. You can adjust the start and end times if it is not a full-day absence. Once submitted, school staff will review and either approve or reject the request. You will see approved absences in the Attendance tab.
Please note, this feature is only for same-day absences; for any extended or future absences, please continue to complete and submit the request for exceptional absence. We will also continue to use the same day absence google form. If you need to change an unapproved absence request, you will need to delete it and create a new one, as editing is not possible. Once an absence is approved, it cannot be deleted through the app, so you will need to contact the school for any further modifications.
This new reporting method will be used alongside our other established reporting procedures

Partners including CAMHS, Sutton Local Authority, Education and the Voluntary Community Sector are working with parents/carers to design a pilot to provide early support to families that may have concerns that may be related to Autism or ADHD.
The pilot will aim to provide early support to children and young people with or
without a formal diagnosis.
To make sure this pilot service truly meets the needs of families in Sutton, we would be extremely grateful if you could complete the following short survey:
https://forms.office.com/e/swsnFC9jmK
Your feedback will help to:
Identify gaps in support experienced by parent/carers, ensure that the pilot service is informed by parent/carers and that families receive the help that they need, and improve coordination between services.
The survey should take approximately 15-20 mins to complete; it is open until 23rd June 2025.
If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Diana Salgado, Clinial Service Lead for the Leads Based Model team, through the email:
