LASALS Amateur Art Competition
Theme: New Beginnings. Celebrating a new start through art.

It’s been a tough year for all of us but we are starting to see signs of better things on the horizon. To celebrate this, LASALS are launching an online art competition to encourage Leicester to get creative! The theme is : New Beginnings!
So what does 'New Beginnings' mean to you? Show us through art, be that 2D art, 3D art or photography.
Each entry will be exhibited in our online gallery. At the end of the competition, a select number of submissions will be chosen to be exhibited in a new show at the Leicester Adult Education College Gallery in September. Also, the three winners will win a LASALS community learning course voucher. We can't wait to see your submissions, get creating and have fun!
The Competition Categories:
We want to invite all you amateur artists out there to create and submit a piece of work in one or more of the following categories:
2D ART
A 2 dimensional piece of artwork created on a flat surface of any type
3D ART
For example, ceramics jewellery, sculpture or anything 3 dimensional.
Photography
A picture taken with a photographic device such as a camera, phone camera or tablet.

How to Enter
To enter our competition, you will need to email us at artcompetition@leicesterlearns.ac.uk. By entering, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.
In the email, please clearly state your name, the title of your work and what category you are entering into. The deadline for submission of your work is Friday 18 June 5pm, after this time we will not be accepting entries. For full entry requirements, please click here to read.

How we are Judging
We have two phases of judging. In phase one, after the deadline on Friday 18 June, Kerry (LASALS Head of Service) will be selecting a winner from each category. These winners will be contacted to arrange their prize and displaying of artwork in our gallery.
In phase two, once the winner and the runners up artwork is placed in our gallery over the summer, we will run a public vote. This is subject to Covid restrictions.

Prize
The three winners, one from each category, will receive a LASALS' Community Learning course voucher for a maximum of one term. If restrictions allow, the winners work will also be presented in our gallery at Leicester Adult Education College during the summer term.
A select number of runners up will also be given the chance to have their artwork presented in our gallery.
