Complex Fluids and BioPhotonics Laboratory

Welcome to the Ou-Yang Research Group

Ou-Yang’s research group conducts research in experimental soft condensed matter physics, with topics covering polymers, colloids, and biophysics. Current research is focused on soft matters far from equilibrium in systems such as synthetic active Brownian particles (colloidal micro-robots), field-induced phoresis of colloidal particles, light-induced phase separation in particle-polymer mixtures, stratification of mixed-sized latex during film formation, the fluctuation-dissipation relationship for the passive and active fluctuations in biological cells. Our laboratory develops novel techniques that combine advanced optical imaging, optical trapping and phase-sensitive detection methods to investigate linear and nonlinear responses of soft matters to external perturbations.
