Giving Thanks and Celebrating Our Eagles
Hello, LCA Upper School Family!
November gives us a natural opportunity to pause and give thanks. I am grateful for our students, for the teachers and staff who invest in them each day, and for the families who partner with us. There is much to celebrate as we see students use their gifts, take on challenges, and encourage one another.
Congratulations to our Screamin’ Eagle Band on earning Superior ratings, Outstanding Winds and Visual Effect awards, and State Runner-Up honors at the TPSMEA State Competition! We also celebrate the six students selected for TPSMEA Region Honor Choirs. Their preparation, perseverance, and teamwork give us plenty of reasons to be proud.
Our “Made for More” theme reminds us that our gifts are opportunities to serve. Whether students are performing, exploring their strengths through YouScience, preparing for college, or helping with the upcoming HOSA blood drive, we want them to consider how their learning can benefit others. A simple question for home this week: What is one gift God has given you, and how could you use it to encourage someone?
Looking ahead, Upper School students do not have school on Friday, November 20. Thanksgiving break is November 23–27, with classes resuming Monday, November 30. Thank you for your continued partnership and for the many ways you care for our school community.

What We’ve Been Doing
State Runner-Up: Screamin’ Eagle Band
Congratulations to our band on an outstanding performance at the TPSMEA State Competition on October 31! Our Eagles earned Superior ratings, Outstanding Winds and Visual Effect awards, and finished as State Runner-Up. We are grateful for the dedication of our students and directors and for everyone who came to support them.
Six Eagles Selected for Region Honor Choirs
Congratulations to Layla Fortin, Grace Myers, and Sage Wilson on selection to the Region Treble Choir, and to Kenley Morton, Tyler Thomas, and Ignacio Godoy-Colina on selection to the Region Mixed Choir! The Mixed Choir audition recordings advance to the next round of State Choir adjudication.
Discovering Strengths Through YouScience
This week’s Enrichment Day included YouScience for freshmen and new students. Exploring their aptitudes gives students another way to reflect on their strengths and consider future opportunities in learning, work, and service.

College Planning: PreACT and Senior Reminders
PreACT: Wednesday, November 11
All ninth and tenth graders are required to attend. Be in your assigned testing room by 8:15 a.m. Testing begins at 8:30 a.m.; late students cannot enter after testing starts. Room assignments will be posted in the hallway.
Students will be dismissed after testing, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Extended-time testing is expected to finish at approximately 1:30 p.m. Follow College Advising’s instructions for your assigned testing group.
Bring pencils (no mechanical pencils), an approved calculator, a snack, and water. Wear regular school uniform. Phones and smartwatches must be turned off and put away in backpacks, following testing-room instructions.
Eleventh and twelfth graders do not have school on November 11. Students should still check instructions for any separately scheduled activities.
Seniors: Cap-and-gown orders are due Friday, November 13. Please follow the ordering information sent to senior families.

Congratulations to our seniors on their latest college acceptances! We celebrate the preparation, perseverance, and hard work behind these opportunities and look forward to seeing where God leads each student.

The last day of every week, students and staff show off their Eagle pride by wearing their spirit wear. Students may wear blue-jeans on these days along with their favorite items from the Feather and Talon!
