What's Happening at the Upper School?

Made for More. So Much More!

Hello, LCA Upper School Family!

I hope your family enjoyed the Labor Day weekend and had an opportunity to rest and spend some time together. The start of a new school year can be hectic, so a long weekend early in the semester can be a welcome chance to slow down before the pace picks back up. And it is about to pick up.

Homecoming is right around the corner (October 9th), and we are looking forward to a great week in the Upper School. Homecoming is one of those times that brings a school together. There is plenty of fun, school spirit, and tradition, but it is also an opportunity for our students to think about what it means to be part of a community. That connects closely to our theme for this year, Made for More.

Throughout the year, we will continue to remind our students that being made for more begins with understanding who God created us to be. It also shapes the way we see the people around us. Scripture teaches that every person is created in the image of God, the Imago Dei. That truth has very practical implications for the way we live together. It should affect the way we speak to one another, the way we handle disagreements, the way we compete, the way we include others, and the way we respond when someone frustrates or disappoints us. People do not have value because of their popularity, ability, appearance, accomplishments, or what they can do for us. They have value because they bear the image of God.

As we talk with students about what that looks like, Micah 6:8 gives us a simple and powerful framework: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Treat people rightly. Extend grace. Choose humility.

Our hope is that Made for More becomes much more than a theme for the school year. We want our students to understand that they have been created by God for a purpose, and that purpose should be seen in the way they lead, serve, compete, learn, and treat the people God has placed around them.

College Tours and Visits:10th-12th graders have two excused college visit days. Please be sure to complete the College Visit Absence Form before the visit, and be sure to bring Ms. Lacey documentation post-visit.

***The Senior Meeting for parents will be in the SPAC from 6:30-7:00pm before you walk your student's schedules. You don't want to miss this!***
