How can I help my child at home?

We are often asked this question and LOVE when families want to find ways to encourage learning and growth at home.

You can start preparing your child for school before they even begin Kindergarten. Below are important ways you can easily help your child be ready to be more independent for school (and the future!):

  • teach your child to open food packages/containers on their own. Practice often!

  • look at pictures of faces showing feelings/emotions and talk about how the person is feeling and what they might need from others around them

  • practice taking turns in a conversation without interrupting

  • practice dressing on their own - all garments and shoes

  • practice how to do and un-do zippers and buttons

  • practice how to turn sleeves/clothing "right side" out

  • practice placing papers inside a folder

  • practice waiting in line without a device for entertainment

  • practice blowing their nose independently

  • wash hands properly

  • use manners

  • practice sharing toys and taking turns in play
