Prevent is a government strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorist or extremist causes. The Prevent strategy covers all types of terrorism and extremism, including the extreme right wing, violent religious groups and other causes.
Extremism
Vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values.
Terrorism
Violent action against people or property, designed to create fear and advance a political, religious or ideological cause.
Radicalisation
The process by which a person comes to support extremism and terrorism.
If you are worried that someone has been radicalised – tell someone!
If you find yourself in an attack, then...
RUN
Run to a place of safety. This is a far better option than to surrender or negotiate.
HIDE
It's better to hide than confront. Remeber to turn your phone to silent and turn off vibrate. Barricade yourself in if you can. Then finally and only when it is safe to do so.
TELL
Tell the police by calling 999.
