Richard M. Chiappetta is honored to be assisting Ledyard High School Band Director Mr. Zachary Thomas with the Colonel Marching Band. Mr. Chiappetta is a retired Connecticut public schools band director with 41 years of service. Since his retirement (June 2017), "Mr. C" has served as a long term substitute band teacher for New London High School and the Waterford Elementary Schools. He continues to be an available substitute for the Groton and Waterford middle and high school band programs.

"Mr. C." is a graduate of Greenwich High School and the University of Bridgeport (B.S. in Music Education plus 30 hours). He held Band Director positions for the prestigious high school programs of Trumbull, New Canaan, East Lyme, and Fitch, as well as the Groton elementary band program during his years of service.

He is a professional music arranger and percussionist and directs and drums for the Time and Changes Jazz Orchestra. He also performs with the Original Waterford Community Band.

He has been a staff member with the Boston Crusaders World Class Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. He was also a performer and staff member with the Connecticut Hurricanes Senior Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Chiappetta resides in Norwich, Connecticut with his wife, Sue, and son, Colin.
