ATC Classroom
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
My name is Sara Laster and I am the ATC (Alternative Teaching Classroom) teacher. This is my 14th year teaching in this position at Valley View. I am dual certified in elementary and special education. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from The College of New Jersey, where I competed on the basketball, cross-country, and track teams. I live in Martinsville, NJ with my husband, our two daughters, Ava and Quinn, and our dog, Jake.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Our K-4 program is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Using research-based teaching procedures, we focus on the components of verbal behavior, from its simplest to most complex form. Each child within our classroom has individualized goals and objectives, including varying levels of inclusion with support. We provide support for social skills development and work on functional life skills within the natural environment setting. We stress developing each child's independence and individuality as we prepare them for the mainstreamed classrooms.

Mrs. Shomo has been a paraprofessional at Valley View for 26 years. She enjoys shopping and going to the beach.
Mrs. Zajac
Mrs. Zajac has been a paraprofessional for 5 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, her animals, and riding her horse.
