What is it?
This year will mark the return of the Woodglen Board Game Club! Students from grades 5-8 who join will have the opportunity to close the Chromebook and put aside the phone, and work together or competitively with hands on board games, both classic and new. Club members will utilize and improve on a number of skills, including teamwork and critical/ creative thinking, through the participation in various types of board games with different goals, objectives, and rules. Students will have the opportunity to learn and play classic board games such as Monopoly and Battleship, as well as more modern or diverse games including Mancala, Mahjong, and Labyrinth.Â
Over the course of this club, students will also participate in the design process of developing their own board games. By exposure to an ever growing number of boards, spaces, pieces, and rules, students will develop games with unique and complex mechanics and visual aesthetics
Please note that this club will run on Tuesdays after school until 4:30 PM, for an initial three sessions. Dates include 10/14, 10/21, and 10/28. Permission forms will be available outside of Room 9. Please contact Mr. Knowles for any questions or additional information.
