LBIS Diploma Programme

Introduction to the IB Diploma Programme

As part of the International Baccaleaureate (IB) continuum of international education, Le Bocage International School (LBIS) is proud to have an authorized Diploma Programme (DP). As the culminating program in the continuum, the DP is designed for students in Forms 6 and 7. It is a comprehensive, two-year program that uses a standardized curriculum within the IB framework.

The DP is a rigorous academic program, emphasizing critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and exposure to a variety of points of view. It encourages students to ask challenging questions, develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture, learn how to learn and develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures.

Benefits of the Diploma Programme

The Diploma Programme is a truly international programme developed in consultation and collaboration with educators from around the world It incorporates the best educational practices from different systems while remaining free of influence of any particular one. At its heart, the DP is driven by the IB mission to create a better world through education.

DP students are prepared for participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society as they develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and ethically, while acquiring the skills that will prepare them for further education and life in the 21st century.

Through the DP, LBIS develop students who:

  • have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge

  • flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically

  • study at least two languages

  • possess the skills and a positive attitude toward learning that will prepare them for higher education.

The Diploma Programme promotes language and literacy, multilingualism, the social sciences, science, mathematics, the arts, interdisciplinary learning, service learning and international-mindedness. It encourages students to be knowledgeable, inquiring, caring and compassionate, and to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness and respect for others’ views.
