Mrs. byington
third Grade
I was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Monterey Park. I attended Monterey Highlands Elementary School (K-8th) and later became an Alhambra High School Moor (9th-12th). Upon graduating high school, I became a UCLA Bruin, majoring in Ecosystems/Geography. I was a member of the UCLA Marching Band and performed in several Rose Bowls, NIT Tournaments, and NCAA Championships, and was a member of the 1984 Olympic Marching Band. Believe it or not, I married a USC Trojan, Jeff Byington (Yes, November is a very interesting month in our household!), and we have two children. Our son, Zachary, lives and works in Denver, Colorado, and our daughter, Eli, works as an intern with the Santa Monica Mountains with the National Park Service. Rounding out our family are our 3-year-old black golden doodle names Kalea (Hawaiian for "joy") and our 4-year-old black and white-tipped Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog and Standard Poodle) named Lani (Hawaiian for "sky and heaven").
I taught first and second grades for 7 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District and fourth and fifth grades for 5 years in the Burbank Unified School District but have found my niche for the past 26 years teaching Aspen's second and third graders.
I believe:
in the ability of each child to learn and will expect your child to be motivated to learn.
that each child has a talent that needs to be nurtured and encouraged.
every child can contribute to society in a positive way. A journey or discovery always begins with one small step.
in the participation of and welcome the support from parents and other family members.
that it takes a village to raise successful, caring, generous, and intelligent individuals...we are that village!
