SEQUOIA MIDDLE SCHOOL
ART 7/8

During the semester long course, students will express themselves creatively through traditional drawing and painting mediums as they develop art skills and concepts. Visual art, a language of communication, is a way to understand the world through line, shape, color, space, texture, and value.

The visual arts curriculum includes recognizing art as a form of expression, identifying and using the elements and principles of art and design, and exploring the role of artists in society throughout history. Students are encouraged to take risks, think critically, and solve problems visually with a goal of forming a deeper connection to the arts.
