Rainbow Youth

Training Course

Rainbow Youth is a European multilateral training course for youth workers and educators. This Training Course aims to explore Sexual Identity and Gender Expression/Identity for those unfamiliar with the LGBT+ collective. The TC will provide participants with the necessary competences to include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression perspectives in Youth Work Practice and to combat prejudice and discriminatory attitudes.

Who are we looking for?

We seek youth workers and educators who are interested in promoting accessible and inclusive youth work and education, and who are committed to developing their own practice.

To make the most of the training course participants must be over 18 years old, able to work in English and interested in the theme of the training.

Great... that sounds exciting... so...

When and where?

Rainbow Youth will take place in Scotland. We had a tough decision... Glasgow City Centre in rooms of 4* or a slightly nicer accommodation but in a remote place? We thought that people will prefer to be in Glasgow and enjoy the city life. It also makes easier for people to travel. So you will be staying in Glasgow City Centre.

This is the address of the accommodation: Euro Hostel Glasgow

Arrival day will be Sunday, 10th of September and departure day will be Sunday, 17th of September. During this dates all expenses related to the training course will be covered by the hosting organisation.

What kind of things we will be doing?

No, We're afraid we won't be puppy walking. But WE will have fun!!

The training is based on non-formal education methodologies and experiential learning. We aim to create an atmosphere where participants can learn from each other (peer learning) and feel empowered to take the lead of their own learning. Some sessions will be worked in small groups and the theoretical topics both in plenary and small group. We want you to be actively involved in the training course so we will provide you with spaces to share experiences.

We will also look for some action and ask you to asked to develop at least one follow-up activity in your own organisation and one follow-up activity to multiply what you have learned during the TC in your local area to other organisations, all with the support of their sending organisations. But do not stress about this! We will work on it during the training and the aim is to support each other to move forward and have some impact!
