Product Integration - Weekly Usage Recommendations:
Student Usage: 20-60 minutes per week
Student Progression: The recommended student usage for optimal results is approximately 20 minutes, 3 times a week (60 minutes/week) and may include any combination of CCSS aligned activities, assessments, concept learning and live Mathletics in which students use a gamified fluency challenge module to compete against one another, other classes, schools, or with other students and classrooms from around the world. Mathletics also offers a number of additional learning resources including eBooks, Rich Tasks for teacher led coursework focused on collaborative problem solving and concept search that allows students to learn new concepts and mathematical approaches in an independent, personalized learning environment. Teachers may use Mathletics modules flexibly and assign activities in a progression that they feel is an appropriate pace for both their classroom and students individually. In addition to 60 minutes a week, other student recommendations include: • Lock students out of lower levels of Live Mathletics Fluency Challenges to target their practice to the most appropriate level • Send login information home to capitalize on after-school use and parent engagement • Encouragement of goals (students to earn at least 1 award certificate a week) which is based on participation.
Teacher Engagement: On average Mathletics saves teachers 10 hours of marking time. Recommendations surrounding teacher engagement include: • All instructors (teachers/Mathletics administrators) responsible for the implementation of Mathletics should attend a minimum of 40 minutes of initial training. • Ensure appropriate student population is targeted based on ability levels which may be initially assessed in the Mathletics Assessments module. • Enroll in and complete Mathletics Lead Educator Program (available online at no-charge) • Student data should be reviewed and analyzed weekly to identify gaps and assign or re-assign appropriate activities • Create differentiated groups within the class structure to further target instruction and support • Create personalized learning pathways (available with the click of a button in the teacher reporting console.) • Use Mathletics Scores as a guide for personalized classroom intervention with students • Encourage parents to review weekly Mathletics report cards delivered via email. • Use live Mathletics in the classroom once or twice a month to gamify math and promote student engagement in math learning.
