Evidence of Effectiveness:
Curriculet aligns with the ESSA Evidence-based Framework at Tier 4, "Demonstrates a Rationale" (1), with a logic model informed by research that is now ready for more rigorous study. Early versions of Curriculet contributed to overall gains in Summit Public Schools. However, efficacy research on newer innovative digital reading platforms with interactive features is limited industry-wide. Older programs, like Accelerated Reader, have shown digitized assessments aligned to print books support positive results on student learning (2). Similarly, there are many studies on digital versus print reading (3). However, these research reviews do not address studies evaluating the impact of newer interactive technologies embedded directly in the text. With the growth of the digital reading phenomenon, Curriculet promises to yield significant effects on student learning, combining the latest learning science for building comprehension skills; the deeper learning targets of state standards; and innovative multimedia and interactive technologies, all in a digital reading platform geared towards today's digital natives. We expect significant effects on student learning, both qualitatively in terms of motivation and engagement, as well as quantitatively in terms of student achievement.
