Senior Summit Sessions 2018

Senior Summit - October 10, 2018

Senior Summit will take place while the underclassmen take the PSAT. This day will be run "conference" style, allowing seniors to choose sessions that best meet their needs and interests. All seniors must make their session selections IN ADVANCE of Senior Summit by completing the Senior Summit 2018 survey by Friday, September 28.

Within the Senior Summit 2018 survey, students will also be able to identify if they are registered to take the school-day SAT or are planning to use this as an excused College Visit Day.


  • 8:40-9:00 Check-in at Mainstreet in Building 2
  • 9:10-9:40 Opening Session for all Seniors in Competition Gym
  • 9:50-10:35 Session 1
  • 10:45-11:30 Session 2
  • 11:40-12:10 Lunch in Cafeteria
  • 12:20-1:05 Session 3
  • 1:15-2:00 Session 4
  • 2:00 Release to modified bell schedule, no afternoon ACC classes will meet

Opening Session

This session is required for all seniors and will cover overview of the day, yearbooks, senior ads, senior photos, cap & gown, and Project Graduation

Required Sessions

COOL Week Orientation - for students who have applied for COOL Week

M/W Morning or Afternoon British Literature Writing Day (Preston) - for M/W British Literature students w/ Professor Preston

US History STAAR Prep - for students who have not taken/passed state-required US History STAAR exam

Becoming TSI Complete - for students who are not fully TSI complete and have not previously completed the required Pre-Assessment Activity

Legacy Seniors - meeting/practice with Ms. Lyons

Football Seniors - meeting/practice with Coach Sanders

Other Session Options

TSI Assessment - take the Math portion of the TSI Assessment in an effort to become "college ready" for Texas public institutions

Military Options - meet with military recruiters about options available to students after high school

ACC Mobile Go Center - start the ACC application/enrollment process and meet with an ACC representative to explore options

Essay Workshop & Review - understand what makes a top-notch college essay and get feedback on your ideas/drafts from college admission representatives

Resume Workshop & Review - understand the formula for a quality resume and get feedback on your resume outline/draft

Senior Workday - work on college application components at your own pace, wtih counselors on hand to answer questions and provide support

Applying for Financial Aid - walk through establishing your FSA ID and completing the student portion of the FAFSA

Scholarships - understand the resources for finding scholarships and how to stand out of the pool of applicants

College 101 - Will my credits transfer? How do I read a degree plan? What will my schedule look like in college? Get these questions answered and understand tools to help you successfully transition to college.

Financial Advice - learn money mangement tips to start now that will put you ahead later in life!

Adulting - learn life hacks for the real, adult world

Self Defense - wear comfortable clothing to learn and practice key self-defense strategies

Dance Party - instructor-led dance cardio session; no dance experience necessary; wear comfortable clothing you can move in

Study Hall - self-directed time to work on homework/assignments/reading for classes
