COOL Week 2019

2019 COOL Week - Feb. 18-22

LISD Seniors have the chance of a lifetime - intern in a career field of your choosing for up to a week in February! There is not a more exciting, hands-on way to figure out if a career field is right for you. Here are just a few benefits to participating in COOL Week:

  • On-the-job experience that builds your resume
  • Networking with employees, supervisors, and hiring managers
  • Insight into a career field and required experience, background, etc.
  • Practice soft skills - communication, interpersonal relationship building
  • Find out if a career is right (or wrong) for you

Please read important campus info, dates, and deadlines below:

Orientation - Oct. 10th @ Senior Summit

  • Required for all students participating in COOL Week
  • Orientation will take the place of one Sr. Summit session
  • One make-up session will be offered during Advocate on Oct. 17th

Parent Permission Form - Due Oct. 12th @ 4pm

  • Required for all students
  • Failure to turn in by the due date will result in being dropped from COOL Week
  • Students who attended make-up orientation session must turn form in by Oct. 16th @ 7pm

Resume - Due Oct. 26th @ 4pm

  • Must submit a hard copy to Mrs. Wallace in the counseling office
  • Required for all students
  • Failure to turn in by the due date will result in being dropped from COOL Week

One-on-One with Mrs. Wallace - Nov./Dec.

  • Meet with Mrs. Wallace to discuss career aspirations and potential job placements
  • Determine available days during COOL Week - check your academic, extracurricular, and work schedule ahead of time
  • Students will use online scheduling to make an appointment - link and further details will be posted toward the end of Oct.
  • Placements will be finalized in January

COOL Week Training - Feb. 7th during Advocate

  • Review COOL Week participation expectations
  • Receive specific job site info - arrival time, contact info, attire, etc.
  • Make-up training will take place Feb. 12th during Advocate
