Welcome to second grade at Reagan Elementary! We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow with your children and are looking forward to an amazing school year together! Here are your second grade teachers:
Kelly Brode graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2002 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She received her Masters degree in Elementary Education from Texas State University in 2004. She taught first grade for three years at Tobias Elementary in Kyle and eleven years at Laura Welch Bush Elementary in LISD. This will be her second year at Reagan Elementary and she is looking forward to the upcoming school year!
Christie Foux earned her Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State University. She previously taught second grade in San Antonio's Northside ISD for three years. She then moved to Austin and taught second grade at Kathy Caraway Elementary in Round Rock ISD for 12 years. She joined the Reagan first grade team in 2016 and is excited to begin her 18th year teaching in second grade!
Gina Freeman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and her Master's Degree in Special Education. She taught second grade for seven years and first grade for two years in Lake Travis ISD before taking some time off from teaching to stay at home with her children. In 2016, she returned to teaching first grade at Reagan and is looping up to second grade this year. This will be her twelfth year teaching and she is incredibly excited about the year ahead with her students and Reagan family!
Jennifer Moran received her bachelor's degree in Education, majoring in Kinesiology, at Texas A&M University. She is certified as a Generalist (Grades Early Childhood-4th grade) as well as in physical education (Grades Early Childhood-12th grade). This is her twelfth year in Leander ISD and although she is an Aggie, she is very excited to live in Longhorn Country!
Deanna Perkins has been teaching since 2005. She graduated from Southwest Texas (it was not yet Texas State at the time) with a degree in Communications and a minor in Spanish. Deanna's first language was Spanish as her mom is Cuban and her dad is Puerto Rican. She went through alternative certification with Region 13 in 2004 and has been teaching ever since. She loves working in Leander ISD and loves being a Reagan Ray!
Charity Reinert earned her degree from Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has taught kindergarten for five years and previously served as an instructional assistant in Special Education for nine years. This will be her 15th year working for Leander ISD and her second year at Reagan Elementary. She is thrilled to be a part of second grade and is looking forward to an amazing year!
Alexandra Smithey graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) where she earned her certification in grades EC-6, ESL (English as a Second Language), and Physical Education. Most recently, she earned her Masters in Reading from Concordia University and is a certified Reading Specialist. She taught for eight years at River Place Elementary and is excited for her first year as a Reagan Ray!
