About the School Counselor
Hello Huskies! My name is Kimberly Valles and I'm your School Counselor. I have been the Counselor at Pleasant Hill for the past ten years. Before becoming a Counselor, I taught first grade in San Antonio. I am so excited to be at Pleasant Hill and look forward to a wonderful year!
I attended The University of Massachusetts Boston and received my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I then attended Texas A&M University San Antonio and received my Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance. I have a wonderful husband, John. We have a sweet four year old son (Everett) and an equally sweet rescue dog (Violet).
About the School Counseling Program
Pleasant Hill's School Counseling Program is designed to help students find success in school by promoting academic, career, personal and social development. Services include guidance lessons in all classes (K-5) that teach skills in three domains as recommended by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The School Counselor also works with individual or small groups to focus on problem solving and student success. Another role of the School Counselor is meeting with teachers, parents and administrators to provide consultation or collaborative services for student planning. Referrals for outside agencies, services, resources, and counseling are also available through the School Counselor.
