Foundational Reading Skills

• Demonstrates and applies 3rd 9 weeks phonics skills when reading

* Decodes words with blends, digraphs, & trigraphs

* Decodes words with r-controlled vowels 

Reading Comprehension

• Determines what the author is trying to persuade the reader to think or do.

• Recognize how informational texts are organized (with adult assistance).

• Discusses topic and determines the theme of texts (with adult assistance).

• Responds to texts by retelling the key ideas and supporting details in order.

Writing

• Writes and revises an opinion about a topic adding at least one reason supported by relevant details.

• Writes and revises stories about the same character, adding details in pictures and in words

• Edits writing for complete sentences.

• Edits writing for the correct spelling of frequently seen words (high-frequency words and commonly seen patterns).

Math

• Represents and solves addition and subtraction story problems to 20.

• Finds the unknown in addition and subtraction equations.

• Identifies and describes attributes of 2-D shapes.

• Identifies and describes attributes of 3-D solids.

• Partitions figures into two and four equal parts and describes them using words.

Science

• Classifies objects by properties such as size, shape, and texture

• Describes how sound, light, and thermal energy are important to everyday life

• Designs investigations to observe and describe the way objects move

Social Studies

• Identifies contributions of historical figures who helped shape the state and nation.

• Identifies important symbols, customs, and celebrations that represent American beliefs and principles that contribute to our national identity.

• Applies critical-thinking skills to organize and use information.

• acquired from a variety of valid sources, including technology.
