FoCS is a course designed to give students the foundation they need to succeed in a variety of computer science focuses. Students start by learning HTML and CSS, learning about and building webpages. Students will then follow the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum that starts with physical programming on a Micro:bit. Students will finish the year creating mobile applications with a real-world purpose.
Principles of Applied Engineering
PoAE is a course where students learn about the design process and how their innovations can impact the real world. Their projects prompt them to think of solutions like designing tools for a child with cerebral palsy. Students learn about the history and impact of automation and robotics as they explore mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Using the VEX Robotics® platform, students apply what they know to design and program traffic lights, robotic arms, and more.
About me
I graduated with a BSA in Computer Science and a minor in French Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. While in school, I pursued my teacher certification as I realized that I wanted to play a positive role in my community, building the youth's problem-solving skills and intuition. This is my first year teaching!
Outside of school, I like to play video games, go to concerts, and run! I like to try and learn new things like pottery painting!
