Meet Mrs. Dawson!
Meet Mrs. Dawson!
Hello! My name is Jenn Dawson and I am so excited to be the art teacher at Naumann Elementary. This is my first year as an art teacher, but I am a life-long artist and have been an educator for the past 9 years. I am so excited to meet you and to inspire all children to be creative and express themselves.
I am the proud wife of my amazing husband, Jimmy. We have been together for 18 years and married for 14. We have an awesome 14 year old daughter named Holly. She is about to enter 9th grade, so wish me luck! We also have 3 cats (Binx, Rocky, and Cheeto). We have a cozy little home in Georgetown and love it! We enjoy doing all types of things as a family, including playing games, hiking, going to festivals, and spending time with our best friends and extended family as much as possible.
As an art educator, I want to provide an environment where students feel inspired to explore their potential. I believe in the power of art and creativity to not only enhance creative expression but also to stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I am dedicated to creating a dynamic and engaging artistic experience that caters to the diverse needs of students, fostering a love for art and a lifelong appreciation for creativity.
I was born and raised in South Florida, but moved to Texas in 2002. I have wanted to be an art teacher since I was in 1st grade. However, it wasn't until my daughter was 2 years old (10 years post-high school) that I summoned the bravery (thanks to my husband) to go back to school and become a teacher. I taught pre-k for 2 years while in college, and then taught 2nd grade at Bagdad Elementary for 6 years (3 years as Team- Lead). Last year, I had the honor of being the lead Kindergarten teacher at LISDs newest school, Hisle Elementary. Then finally, with the support of my fine arts colleagues and my former principal, I got the chance to achieve my dream of becomming an art educator at Naumann. I am so excited and am looking forward to everything to come this year!
