High School Credit
High school courses taken while a student is in middle school do not count toward the student's GPA. Only credit is transferred. This is true whether the student is (a) physically at FSMS taking an LISD high school credit course (i.e. Spanish I, Algebra, Geometry), (b) physically at a HS taking the course via LISD, or (c) the student is taking the course virtually through correspondence. High school credit courses taken through summer school between the student's 8th and 9th grade year will count toward the student's high school GPA. Correspondence courses will still only count toward credit.
When it comes to a student's transcript, credits are processed as follows:
There is no "ADV" nomenclature on the transcript
Courses taken while in middle school will have a code of "J" which stands for "J"unior High
Courses taken while in middle school through correspondence will have a code of "J" as well as "C" which stands for "C"orrespondence
