Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How do I connect my personal device to LISD-WiFi?

A: If you are already connecting to LISD-Guest, disconnect from and “forget” this connection on your device. Then, select the LISD-WiFi network and, when prompted, enter the same username and password that you use to login to district computers. If prompted, accept a certificate.

Q: I looked at the resource links, and I still can’t get my device connected. What should I do?

A: If you have a problem with your username or password, tell your teacher who will contact the LISD Help Desk.

Although the department cannot provide tech support for personal devices, many members of the LISD community are technically knowledgeable and willing to help others with their personal devices; “concern for others” is one of our 10 Ethical Principles. You can ask a friend for help, or you can locate a peer expert. You can also contact your device service provider. You can try an internet search for information about your specific device type.

Q: What level of Internet filtering will I get when my personal device is connected to LISD-WiFi?

A: Since you are logging in with your own credentials, you will receive filtering appropriate to your user account. Staff will receive staff-level filtering; students will receive student-level filtering.

Q: If I bring my personal laptop and connect it via LISD-WiFi, will I be able to access my server account?

A: Server account access from personal devices is not supported. For personal devices, LISD-WiFi provides Internet-ONLY connectivity. Because of data security requirements, only district-owned devices will have access to internal district servers. You will, however, be able to log on to your Google account and access materials stored on your Google Drive.

Q: If I bring my personal laptop and connect it via LISD-WiFi, will I be able to print to district printers?

A: Printing from personal devices to district printers is not supported.
