Oscar Ureño is a first-generation Mexican-American immigrant born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He immigrated to the US when he was 4 years old. He was raised in the city of Angeles in Southern California and comes from a family that includes his two living parents, two younger brothers and a younger sister. He attended California State University, Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for graduate school in 2006 and never looked back!
Dr. Ureño attended the Wright Institute in Berkeley and earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In 2007, he met his soon to be wife, Camille at the Wright Institute and married a few years later.
Prior to coming to LPS, he worked for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland in the Youth Uprising/Castlemont Health clinic and before Children’s he worked at the Center for Family Counseling in East Oakland. He and his wife live with their 24-year-old son, Ryan and their three rambunctious dogs, Canis, Ruby and Philomena. They are proud East Oakland residents with a strong personal and professional commitment to social justice, equality and inclusion. He enjoys hiking, running, reading and spending time with friends and look forward to establishing strong connections and relationships with the rest of the LPS team.
