My name is Mrs. Megan Barrick and I am excited to be your 5th grade teacher this year! This is my ninth year teaching and my third year as a proud PCR Panther. I grew up in La Cañada and am delighted to be back, this time as part of the esteemed group of La Cañada educators.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies at California State University Channel Islands and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as a Master's Degree in Education at University of California Santa Barbara.
My teaching philosophy boils down to a few key points:
All students can learn, but not all students learn at the same pace or in the same way.
A strong classroom community is full of mutual respect and a hunger for learning.
Intrinsic motivation is the greatest factor in student success.
Students will record their homework, upcoming assessments, and project due dates in their agendas. Absent students will check the "Digital Agenda" located in Google Classroom and have one day plus the number of days they were absent to make up assignments.
I strive to be as approachable as possible with my students as well as their families. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's education or success in my classroom. I will do my best to respond to all communications within 24 hours during school hours.
