Mrs. Petty's
Art Class
2023 / 2024
ILMS now has a school store and some of the supplies will be available for purchase right here on campus.
Materials & Supplies
You will need the following supplies with you in class EVERY DAY. Always come to class prepared.
regular pencils
colored pencils
a folder for class
black Sharpie - - Ultra Fine or Extra Fine or Sharpie Pen (You need a very fine tip for detailed work. A "regular" Sharpie will be too large.)
hand held eraser
hand held pencil sharpener
ruler
Styrofoam egg carton (for paint)
small plastic container with lid (for paper mache glue - a small takeout dish is great)
*You may wish to purchase a pencil pouch to keep all of your personal supplies together.
*I highly encourage students to have a mouse that can be used with their Chromebook. Digital assignments will be much easier using a mouse, rather then the integrated mouse pad on the Chromebook. These can be purchased online, at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Five Below, etc.
If you already have these items - great! You do not need to have brand new supplies if you already have these materials that you can bring in.
If, for any reason, you are unable to get materials needed, PLEASE LET ME KNOW as soon as possible.
Welcome to Art class
Welcome to art class with Mrs. Petty. I hope that you are excited to take this course and to have an opportunity to be creative.
If you like to draw and you like to be creative, then this is the class for you! We will learn about art and artists from around the world as we create and critique works of our own. This is a hands-on, project based class and drawing will be an integral part of your coursework.
I look forward to meeting all you Warrior Artists this 2023/2024 school year.

About Me
I am happy to be an art teacher here at Indian Land Middle School. I love being a Warrior! My favorite thing about teaching art? I give my students the same assignment and the same materials, yet I get something different from each student in return. That's the best!
When I am not busy teaching, you will find me enjoying time with my family. I am married and have two kids (and two spoiled pets). My favorite place to spend time together? At the beach! We're also NC State fans - Go Pack! My personal favorite forms of art are photography and ceramics (clay).
