Leigh Ann Lilly, Ed.D. has been a public school choral director for nearly twenty years and actually attended South Middle School when it was a "junior high school".
She holds degrees in Music Education with a vocal performance minor, along with a piano pedagogy certificate. Dr. Lilly also holds a Masters and Doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction.
Dr. Lilly is a classically trained vocalist and has performed across the U.S. and Europe. She has won 4 National American Teachers of Singing competitions, 1 Regional, State, and National Music Teachers National Association competitions, and 1 Young Artist's Award from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, New York. She had performed in more than 30 productions and held 26 leading roles in both opera and musical theatre.
Dr. Lilly's students have received superior rating consistently at choral competitions in the Southeast and have also performed at state educational conferences, local holiday celebrations, and for other civic organizations.
When she is not at SMS, Dr. Lilly maintains a successful private vocal and piano studio boasting several candidates and students of the SC Governors School for the ARTS. She also teaches at the high school and university level for several online institutions throughout the country.
When not working with students or on her other educational responsibilities, Dr. Lilly spends time having fun with her family. Her husband and two boys are her pride & joy and continue to support her in all of her endeavors.
