Lancaster County School Librarians Association
Message from Elizabeth Bryant, ILHS Assistant Principal/ Instructional Specialist for Technology
Four new Library Media Specialists join our team this year: Jennifer Infinger, Kershaw Elementary, Heather McCloskey, Van Wyck Elementary, Linda Mackay, Buford Middle School, and Kelly Moran, Indian Land Middle School. We also had several librarians change location: Alison Harris, Jeri Rogers, Shelia Russell, and Ann Tillman.
The 2020-2021 school year provided unique opportunities for flexibility, virtual and in-person learning, Destiny Collections as resource hubs, and we continued to curate resources and provide instructional support to our staff and students.
We have been hard at work building relationships, promoting literacy, planning teacher professional learning, and developing lessons.
Our goals for this year include reshaping the library, increasing collaboration, enhancing instruction, integrating technology, examining ethical use of information, offering book promotions and makerspaces. In addition, we are examining the six shared foundations of the new AASL Library Standards. Librarians chose one competency within each Shared Foundation We are utilizing the Domains of Think, Create Share, and Grow.
Check out our newsletter for snapshots of what is happening in our libraries.
We are putting our children first by providing support to the faculty, staff, and students of Lancaster County School District by preparing our students for college and career readiness.
Thank you for your support of the students of Lancaster County Schools!
