The first step in creating a website is choosing which internet source to design the website. Therefore, I chose to use sites.google.com to design my website. The Google site page is free and there is no charge or hidden fees within using the platform. In addition, the Google platform automatically saves your work throughout the entire time you are working on your site. You also have the option to preview your site at anytime before publishing.
If you have not already, you will have to sign into your google account to access sites.google.com
Once you have chosen sites.google.com, you will select a blank website. A page will pop up with a display of a template with a title text box, site name in the top left-hand side corner, and site document name above the site name "box". You will then type your title of your website and give it a site name and document name. The above three can be the same thing or related to one another.
You will locate the toolbar on the right-hand side of the page with the options of insert, pages, and themes. The insert options allows you to insert individual text boxes, images, embed links, or something from your drive, content blocks for formatting information, etc. The pages option allows you to add pages, subpages, and rearrange your pages. The themes option allows you to choose a theme created by google with a color of your chose, create a theme, or import a theme.
Next, you will choose the insert tab and choose a content block you wish to you use. You then will be able to add any type of text to the box and upload an image. If you wish to embed a link with a title, you will choose text box, type your title, highlight the title, choose the link button, copy your external website url, and click apply. If you choose to, on the left-hand side of the selected box, there are 3 options to change color of section, duplicate section, or delete section.
Then, select the page tab from the right-hand side to add additional pages. Each page will be labeled and displayed as tabs on the top navigation pane. For the other pages, there will be images, text, links, and other multimedia options added to those pages later. You can customize any other items you wish such as fonts, text size, text style, text color, alignment, bullets, or deletion.
Finally, to publish your changes, click on the publish button on the top right-hand corner.
