Indian Caste System
The Indian Caste System is a caste system, a process of placing people in groups based on occupation, that is rooted in religion, labor division, and the control of people based on class. It is a hierarchy of four main groups, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra but also includes a fifth group, the untouchables or Dalits. The people are restricted to the class in which they were born and these restrictions have grown increasingly more strict over time. This system is said to be over 3,000 years old and is founded on and based off of Hinduism, one of the main religions in India. There is not no one person that is credited with the founding the Indian Caste System but there are some credited with helping put the system together.
