Elective This course is for art students committed to producing a high quality portfolio of artwork while exploring a variety of skills, media, art forms and processes. Components of this course include the exhibition of artworks, the process portfolio that documents the creative process and the comparative study of three artworks. The IB curriculum requires a significant commitment to inquiry, written analysis and process journaling as well as artmaking.

Elective This course dives deeper into artmaking and research.  Students will produce a comprehensive high-quality portfolio of artwork while exploring a variety of skills, media, art forms and processes. Components of this course include the exhibition of artworks, the process portfolio that documents students’ creative process and the comparative study of three artworks. The IB curriculum requires a significant commitment to inquiry, written analysis and process journaling as well as artmaking. The greater breadth and depth required for HL is reflected through an additional assessment task.

Elective IB Music courses prepare students to take the International Baccalaureate Music exams. IB Music courses develop students’ knowledge and understanding of music through study of musical perception, including study of musical elements, form and structure, notations, musical terminology and context. These courses include exploration of music from different places, cultures, and time periods. They also involve training in at least one of the following: creating, solo performing, and group performing.

Elective Elective IB high level courses dive deeper into the content and require multiple and varied assessments. IB Music courses prepare students to take the International Baccalaureate Music exams. IB Music courses develop students’ knowledge and understanding of music through study of musical perception, including study of musical elements, form and structure, notations, musical terminology and context. These courses include exploration of music from different places, cultures, and time periods. They also involve training in at least one of the following: creating, solo performing, and group performing. The greater breadth and depth required for HL is reflected through an additional assessment task. This task requires HL students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the core syllabus areas by formulating and communicating intentions for a project that is based on:

• real-life practices of music-making

• their experiences as developing musicians in this course

• their collaboration with others.
