Hello DTES families,
A huge thank you to all of the parents and students who helped recognize our teachers and staff this week. We felt the love. Each and every day a new surprise. A special thank you to Mrs. Kline, Mrs. Padiotis, and their team for going above and beyond to make our teachers feel special.

SOLs for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be starting tomorrow, Tuesday. If students in these grade levels arrive after the testing starts, they will not be able to join their class and will have to wait a couple of hours until the testing session is completed.

Thank you to the families that joined us this past Thursday for our International Night. It was great seeing everyone share a little about their country.

SEASONAL ALLERGIES
Spring Seasonal Allergies are here! Also known as Hay Fever or Allergic Rhinitis; pollen from trees, grasses and weeds are being released and those tiny spores affect most of us. There is no real cure for seasonal allergies, but it is possible to relieve symptoms. At school I can rinse itchy eyes with saline eye wash but in some cases that may not be enough. If your child needs medication it is best you treat them at home. Many of the Physician recommended non- drowsy antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops can be taken once a day. Please consult your Family Healthcare Provider.
SOILED CLOTHES/RAINY WEATHER/MUDDY FIELDS
Accidents Happen… please send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. I have a limited supply of clothes in the Health Office.
INJURIES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
If your child is injured and will return to school with a cast, ACE Bandage or orthopedic device, please send a Physician note with any activity restriction.
Any questions please email or call Mrs. Perez.

Title I Information:
Title I, the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is the largest federal education program. Its intent is to provide funding to develop, implement, and evaluate instructional programs that ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards.
Title I began with the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, which provided federal funding for high-poverty schools to help students who are behind academically and at risk of falling behind. Services can include the purchase of instructional equipment, materials and supplies, family involvement activities, and professional development.
For the 2024-2025 school year, Dominion Trail Elementary will join 14 other Loudoun County schools as a Title I school-wide program. Each of these schools conduct a comprehensive needs assessment, identify and commit to specific goals and strategies that address those needs, and create a comprehensive schoolwide plan on an annual basis. As we plan for the transition to a Title I school, family engagement will continue to be a focus for our school.

Virtual Distance Learning for the 2024-2025 schoolyear
Virtual Distance Learning will be an offering for elementary school students (grades 1-5) based on medical need, academic preference, and administrative placements in the 2024-25 School Year. Virtual Distance Learning remains a fully synchronous, virtual offering for the whole school year. The staff invites interested students and families to explore the Virtual Distance Learning Elementary website to learn about this program serving students in grades 1-5.
All students interested in Virtual Distance Learning (rising grades 1-5) must apply through the web application for enrollment consideration. The Virtual Distance Learning application portal for elementary students opened April 8, 2024, and will close on Friday, May 10, 2024. This application window is the only opportunity to request Virtual Distance Learning for the 2024-25 school year.
Students who do not apply or who apply and are not accepted for 2024-25 Virtual Distance Learning will remain enrolled in their in-person, home-school setting.
Please complete and submit the Virtual Distance Elementary application by the firm deadline of Friday, May 10, 2024.
