Classification & compensation
The Classification & Compensation function within the Department of Human Resources and Talent Development is charged with supporting and sustaining the LCPS workforce through the monitoring and reviewing of compensation and classification.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is the third largest school division in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Established in 1870, LCPS is located in the rapidly growing Washington-DC metro-area. Each year, approximately 2500 new students enroll in our schools. LCPS serves more than 83,000 students in 92 facilities. LCPS operates 15 high schools, 17 middle schools, 58 elementary schools, and 2 special purpose schools.
The three primary objectives of the Classification and Compensation function are:
- The establishment and maintenance of equitable and competitive compensation levels for each position.
- Identifying the exemption status of a position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, specifically determining if a position is exempt or non-exempt from overtime payments.
- Providing the opportunity for progression through an equitable placement practice and recognition of employee's experience.
