Brandon Clarke is a senior at Independence High School and also the creator of the Sports Hub, he had never had any prior experience in Broadcast Journalism and is happy that he took this class. So far he has enjoyed and learned about many new things in the broadcasting world and plans on continuing this path through college. A little bit about him, he grew up in this area and has been here his entire life but is planning on heading out real soon as he will be playing baseball at the University of Alabama next year. He has been playing baseball for as long as he can remember and started the great game at the age of 4. He is excited to continue working with the Indy Nation News team for the rest of the year to keep coming out with awesome content!
Tommy Gurganous is a sophomore at Independence High School and is the current producer of the INN sports installment Tiger Takes. He has been a big fan of sports in particular since he was around 8 years old. His favorite sports team is the Washington Nationals, but he also enjoys watching the Washington football team, the Washington Wizards, and the Virginia Cavaliers college football and basketball teams. Of course, he also greatly enjoys watching any and all Independence Tiger games, and tried to attend as many events as he could last year. During the last school year, he participated and greatly appreciated the opportunity to play in Independence’s inaugural marching band program and playing for hyped-up crowds at school pep rallies. He hopes to continue to roll out new installments of Tiger Takes and other entertaining segments throughout the year.
Trevor Saville is a sophomore at Independence, and he loves everything technology. He's very bent on becoming a great technician and strives to do things he loves. His first ever game was Mario Kart Wii. He also loves recording with his friends and uploading it to YouTube for fun. His dream job is to be a programmer or a worker in IT. Technology has been his passion, and will always be his passion. The news team has given him plenty of opportunities to work with people he didn't know.
Ally Hessenius is a senior at Independence, and her favorite part about Indy is that there is a real community feel to the school. She wanted to build on this community vibe even while we are in distance learning, so she decided to create a segment that revolves around students and staff showing what their new normal school days look like called Tiger Vlogs. At Indy Ally plays on the varsity volleyball team, is the president of the National English Honors Society, and is a part of Indyserves. Being a part of these clubs and activities has allowed Ally to build connections with her peers and teachers, who in return help make her a better person everyday.
Lilia Ramirez is a junior Independence High School student. She is the creator and host of INN’s segments called Under The Pencil and Indy’s Interesting Facts. She’s a girl with a bright personality and a great sense of humor. She loves all things technology and likes to play video games with her friends but also loves to spend time with her family. She’s also a very creative person who loves to share stories about the creative side of people. She encourages others to share their stories about what they have created to help inspire others who might have trouble finding their creativeness. Other stories she likes to share are some that people find interesting. The stories are quick but may have you thinking about them way past your morning.
Amelia Emons is a senior at Independence High School. Amelia grew up in San Diego, California before she relocated to Northern Virginia her junior year of high school. Prior to Independence High School, she attended Del Norte High School for her freshman and sophomore year. During her time at Del Norte, she held the lead editing role on Del Norte’s student news team. Outside of the classroom, Amelia has been a competitive and high-level athlete for the past eight years. After playing indoor and beach volleyball in California, Amelia joined Independence’s first ever Varsity Volleyball team where she received Second-Team all Region from the VHSL and team MVP. Amelia enjoys making others happy and serving the community. She is a currently a member of Indy Serves, a community service club at Independence. Additionally, Amelia is recognized for her academic success as a member of the National Honors Society. Amelia has a strong passion for video editing and is thrilled to be apart of INN. Her current role on the Indy Nation News team is producing the Tiger Trip Tips Segment, but she is excited to produce even more segments throughout the school year.
Kasim Ahmed, a Junior at Independence Highschool, his favorite part about Indy Nation News is putting a smile on the face of his audience. Kasim grew up in a small town in Lahore, Pakistan and spent 12 years of his life there. He thrives to do his best with creating content and various different segments that may contain some life hacks or even a smile awaiting you. He’s had 2 years of experience with filming and making videos but this is his first with broadcasting and it is most definitely something he enjoys. In his past experiences with live broadcasting something that really stood out to him was being prepared, organized and being on time. Outside of school Kasim tries his best to maintain a healthy lifestyle and tries to spend time with his family. Kasim is a very outgoing person who is always down to go on an adventure. “Let’s conquer the news industry as tigers!”
