Parents and Guardians,
The district will be teaming up with Bark Technologies (bark.us) to bring a groundbreaking new digital citizenship program to our fourth and fifth graders in December.
The program, “Connected Communities,” is designed to teach students responsible smartphone use.
Students will participate in two in-school sessions (Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11), led in-person by an expert in digital safety.
This program is not just for students. Bark will also host a parent session at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9 at Liberty High School. This event will be packed with tips and tools to help parents navigate raising children in the digital age. If you plan to attend the parent session, please RSVP here.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We are excited to add this skills development programming to our digital citizenship initiatives!
Maggie Bedwell!
Parents, please make sure your child is bringing a water bottle to school each day!
All LCISD students have been issued ID badges. The purpose of the badges is to maintain the district's high standard of safety and security and to help streamline a number of student and teacher activities. Click here for more information about student ID badges. Students will have one on their backpacks as well to help with dismissal. The first replacement badge is given to the student, but each following one will be a charge of $5.
If you are checking your student out, please remember that a driver’s license is required. We will take a picture each time, and if you have multiple children at West, we’ll take a picture for each. Your patience is appreciated!
If someone else is checking out your child, ensure they are on the emergency list in Skyward with permission marked "yes" to pick up your child. We cannot allow anyone to leave with your child if they aren't listed, even an older sibling. Please note, the office cannot make changes to Skyward contacts or accept verbal permission over the phone—this must be done by the parent/guardian in Skyward.
If you give your car tag to another person, you are consenting for them to pick up your child in the parent pick-up lane.
Starting in September, we will no longer accept Door Dash or other food deliveries for students, as we will be installing a buzzer system for visitors. This system may cause entry delays, and food deliveries could add to the congestion. Parents are still welcome to bring lunch for their child and dine together during their child's lunch time.
Check out the video below for a guide on how to add and change emergency contacts in Skyward. The video also explains how to add people who can check out your student(s).
Our teachers are wonderful. Each month we celebrate a staff member of the month. If you would like to nominate a West staff member,
Here is a link to do so. Your words of affirmation and encouragement mean so much to them.
Is there a West teacher you or your student thinks goes above and beyond? If so, nominate them for the Mrs. Baird’s “Teacher on the Rise” award. Winning teachers receive great prizes, and the students who nominate them will also receive a $50 gift card. Parents, guardians, and students can nominate a teacher. To access the nomination form click here or scan the QR code below. Each month a teacher will be selected across the south plains.
ATTENDANCE AND DISMISSAL CHANGES
Please inform the office via email (twithtrow@lcisd, khilton@lcisd.net, and kstrube@lcisd.net) or phone 806-993-2345 of any changes to dismissal plans by 2:00pm. Note that students cannot be signed out between 3:00 and 3:30 PM, as staff are focused on ensuring a safe and orderly dismissal process.
All Dismissal Changes must be received by 2:00 pm.

Dear Lubbock-Cooper Families,
We are sending you this letter to invite you to partner in feeding hungry kids in Lubbock-Cooper ISD. At St. Luke’s Methodist Church, it is our privilege to support Lubbock-Cooper Central, North, South, and West Elementary Schools by providing what we call “Snack Packs” for children who need a care package of nutritional food over the weekends. Each week we deliver 138 snack packs to children in need.
The cost for each “Snack Pack” is $6, which totals $240 per child, per year. This ministry is financially supported by Lubbock-Cooper parents, members of our church, area businesses, and other persons in our community who care about kids.
If you would like to invest in these children and their well-being this school year, just visit https://egrace.breezechms.com/form/293672 or mail a check to St. Luke’s at 3708 45th Street, Lubbock Texas 79423. In the memo line of your check, please specify “Hands of Jesus,” which is the name of the "snack pack" ministry.
Gratefully,
Dr. Andy Hurst
Senior Pastor, St. Luke's Methodist Church
The LCISD Food Services Department is looking forward to another great school year! There is some important information families need to know about school meals.
Students at New Hope Academy, East Elementary, North Elementary, and South Elementary will receive free breakfast and lunch school meals this year (with no action required) because of the Community Eligibility Provision program. Students at LCHS, Liberty HS, LBMS, LCMS, Central Elementary, and West Elementary must pay for meals or can apply for free or reduced-price meals (more information at https://www.lcisd.net/o/lcisd/page/free-and-reduced-meals). Applications and meal status are totally confidential and there is no penalty for applicants who do not qualify.
Our meal account management platform has transitioned from LunchMoneyNow to PaySchools Central. Parents must create a new PaySchools Central account in order to deposit meal funds. You can find instructions at https://www.lcisd.net/o/lcisd/page/payschools-central.
Meal prices for the 2025-26 school year can be viewed at https://www.lcisd.net/page/food-services.
If you have questions about school meals or the free and reduced-price meal application process, email dborchardt@lcisd.net!
