HM Teachers

Mr. Cates (L) and Mr. Rualo (R) are the Lead Teachers for the Health & Medical Pathway.

Mr. Cates has been teaching in LBUSD since 2002 and has been at McBride since 2016. Prior to McBride, Mr. Cates taught Ancient/Classical World History at Hoover Middle School for 13 years. Mr. Cates teachers AP World History: Modern and Accelerated World History at McBride. Mr. Cates has also taught a teacher preparation History course at CSULB since the spring of 2015. Mr. Cates' attachment to CSULB runs deep as evidenced by his BA, MA, and teaching credential being earned at "The Beach."

Mr. Rualo has been teaching for 20 years and has been at McBride for 5 years. Prior to McBride, Mr. Rualo taught at Avalon High School in Catalina Island for twelve years where he taught AP US History, AP Government, Economics, Yearbook, Digital Art, and even Driver's Ed. Mr. Rualo teaches AP Psychology, AP Government, Government and Economics.

Mr. White has been teaching for 20 years and at McBride for 6. Prior to that he worked at CAMS for 3 years, Poly 5 years, and Los Angeles Unified 6 years. Mr. White has a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Math, 3 teaching credentials, and a Master's degree from CSUDH. Mr. White teaches the 9th Grade (Health & Careers), 10th Grade (Applied Medical Terminology) and 11th Grade (Sports Medicine) courses.
