Yvonne Lefort

About Yvonne

Yvonne has been providing coaching and training to people in intercultural, career, and life transitions for 30 years. She has directed college career centers, worked in the corporate and non-profit world, and assisted students, adults in career transition, laid-off workers, re-entry mothers, and expats. She is passionate about helping people from other countries adjust to American culture and create meaningful lives.

Having lived and worked abroad, she has firsthand experience with the challenges that people face when moving to a new country and starting their lives over again. At UC Berkeley, she supported international spouses/partners of postdocs, visiting scholars, and graduate students by teaching courses on “Creating a Fulfilling Life in America.” As part of a USAID project in Morocco to establish career centers, she trained career counselors at universities and vocational centers throughout that country.

She has been a presenter at the National Postdoctoral Association Annual Conference and a keynote speaker at the “Dual-Track Couples in Academia” colloquium at UC Berkeley. She has also done presentations for Columbia University and MIT. Yvonne has a master’s degree in Career Development from John F. Kennedy University and a bachelor’s degree in French from Pomona College. She is a certified cross-cultural trainer. With a love of foreign languages, she can speak French, German and Spanish, though not all at the same time!
