East Canyon Projects
The East Canyon Projects is a multi-project managed by the Projects & Infrastructure Modernization and Facilities Divisions. The various projects will create major utility infrastructure upgrades to prepare the Lab for future research construction (NERSC) and development, as well as improve the reliability and safety of the Lab's electrical systems.

Outage Begins at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday
Because of the magnitude of this outage, building systems must be powered down at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21. We know this could affect normal work day schedules. Please consider how much time you will need to put your equipment in safe and stable mode by 6:00 a.m. June 21 and plan accordingly.

TIMING
Tuesday, June 20, 5:00 p.m. Mechanical building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, etc.) shut-offs begin. Building tenants should put equipment in safe and stable mode before that time and on-site personnel exit the building.
Wednesday, June 21, 6:00 a.m. Electrical building systems shut-offs begin.
Wednesday, June 21 - Sunday, June 25 Building access is restricted.
Monday, June 26, 7:00 a.m. Buildings re-open as normal.
FOR BUILDING TENANTS
All building tenants are asked to place equipment in safe and stable mode by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20. Use this guidance from EHS to prepare your lab or technical area.
In consideration of the Lab's COVID-19 controls, if you need to be onsite to safely shut off your equipment, and/or set equipment to receive standby power, and/or restart equipment when power is restored, please arrange your site access with your respective Transition Leadership Team representative.
Standby power is available only to equipment that is already connected to e-outlets. Buildings 13J, 62, 62B, 66, 67, 67A, 72, 72A, 72B, 72C, 74, 83, 84, 84B, 85, and 86, and Strawberry Gate will have standby power.
For temporary power needs, reach out to your Facility Area Manager to review your current Temporary Power Request Form. The due date for this action is Friday, February 10.
Unless exempt, the buildings will not be occupiable during the power outage. If you require emergency access, contact the Site Operations Center. Refer to the Emergency Access Process for more information.
Entry to the Lab in that area will not be impacted as Strawberry Gate is equipped with backup power.

LEE ROAD CLOSURE June 18-26, 2023
On Sunday, June 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m., the Project Team (PIMD) and Facilities Management will be closing the back side of Lee Rd to set up the portable generators in preparation for the Power Outage affecting the East Canyon and the Molecular Foundry buildings.

TIMING
Sunday, June 18, 6:00 p.m. - Monday, June 26, 4:00 p.m. Road will be blocked. Fire engines and bus services will not have access.
Monday, June 19, - Tuesday, June 20 Very limited delivery access to building 67 from the south side entrance.
Wednesday, June 21 - Monday, June 26 No delivery access.
FOR BUILDING TENANTS
No pedestrian or vehicle access during project activities. Road and parking areas are to be closed the night prior to the delivery of the portable generators. Traffic and parking will reopen after project activities are completed and portable generators are removed from the road. See the photos below for reference.

SHUTTLE IMPACTS
Due to the East Canyon project building closures, the following changes to shuttles will be in effect June 21-23.
The following stops will be closed: B67/72, B62/66, B74, Strawberry Gate, Strawberry Pool, Rim Way (Orange route)
The Orange route will run normal routes around campus but will come on-site at B65 only.
Blue and Rockridge AM will head from B69 to B48 and back downhill, skipping all temporarily closed stops
