I have a fond memory of a tour of the storage ring given to early career scientists by Banda, the  former ALS Division Deputy for Operations. He was always so passionate about the machine, and always making sure people got a chance to understand how the whole thing worked. I think the sense of wonder shared by the ALS staff is part of what makes it unique.
