Affordable Business Attire Resources
The following is a list of resources intended to help students build their initial professional wardrobe. Each location listed includes tips for purchasing items that are affordable throughout the year.
The Goodwill of Orange County– Find new clothes that are unworn at a significant discount from the original retail price. There is an online bidding feature to purchase items online and have them delivered to you from Goodwill’s across the country.
The Hanger Boutique/Outlet– This store is run by the non-profit Working Wardrobes. Their mission is to assist clients with professional wardrobing. There are two boutiques and two outlets in Orange County. This is a good option for finding items such as ties and socks.
Nordstrom Rack– This store has high-quality pieces at affordable prices. Shopping is most affordable during holiday sales. This retailer also has an annual Clear the Rack and Anniversary Sale that offer significant discounts. They have a rewards program, where you accumulate and redeem points for future purchases. You also get access to sales earlier than the general public. You may purchase items and have them shipped to a store for free pickup.
Target– Target has collections from capsule designers that include professional workwear items including blazers and pantsuits. These collections are available online and in-store. They have a rewards program for discounts on future purchases. This program is accessible via the store’s mobile app.
T.J.Maxx and Marshalls– T.J.Maxx and Marshalls have a range of business attire available at different price points. You can also shop for items online and they offer free returns in store. They also have pieces available throughout the year on clearance.
Savers– Savers is a secondhand store that sells clothing and other household items. There are mutliple locations throughout Orange County.
Free Professional Photo Booth
UCI students can get free professional headshots to elevate their LinkedIn profiles and for other professional needs. A self-service photo booth is available Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Division of Career Pathways office, conveniently located across from the Student Center Starbucks. Appointments are not necessary.
